Why do we have a ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award?

We wanted to create an award for you to enjoy. We have had such lovely comments and feedback from our ABC Award that we launched earlier this year, and we thought it would be nice to create another award to run alongside this.

There are so many brilliant blogs out there, written by dedicated and talented people, and we wanted to celebrate that. There are also a lot of ‘blog of the year’ awards out there that require a lot of effort – voting and promoting – and we wanted this to be simple!

So – it is simple! Choose the blog(s) that you have enjoyed reading this year – and present them with the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

Why add the stars?

We’ve been given awards on this blog before and we are always very appreciative – and it’s nice to collect new ‘badges’. But it’s awkward when someone else gives you the same award later – we’re never quite sure what to do with it!

So this way, you can actually ‘upgrade’ your badge for the next one – with another shiny star – and keep going until you have all six stars – genius!

Why is the award launched so late in the year?

Have you ever watched a car advert on TV in January and been annoyed when they tell you it’s the ‘car of the year’ – and you think to yourself ‘but it’s only January – what if a better care comes along in June?!’ Well, that’s why this is launched now – and runs to the 31^st December – so that you can choose the best blogs that you have enjoyed this year.

(We’re planning to run this again in 2013 in case you were wondering!)

What about the badges?

Our only request is that the badges are not tampered with or altered in any way – please stay true to the design and spirit of the award.

What about the html code?

It’s there if you need it! You can download it from the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook Group – https://www.facebook.com/groups/BlogoftheYear/ – just click on the Photo Albums and look for the Thumbnails album https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.440265616032381&type=1 for all the codes. Or you can add a comment below and we will e-mail them to you.

We also don’t mind if you code the badge to link back to your own post on your blog – as long as you include the link back to our page in your post then we are happy!

Who can receive the award?

The award is for any blog that you think deserves it! If you have enjoyed reading a blog, gained great information from it, bookmarked it, shared it with friends, commented regularly or added them as a favourite – then why not give them the award?

You don’t have to wait to be nominated either – you can grab the banner and the guidelines and bestow the award on your favourite blogs – who knows, maybe they’ll nominate you in return!

Why are there ‘rules’ to follow?

So that everyone receives the same information! Please do not alter the text about the award or how to share it with others.
